SANTA MESA DISTRICT FIRE EMS VOLUNTEER

Established in 2025, SANTA MESA DISTRICT FIRE EMS VOLUNTEER has been at the forefront of emergency response in our community. Our department is staffed by highly trained professionals dedicated to saving lives and protecting property.

We operate from 2 strategically located fire sub-stations across the city, ensuring rapid response times to all areas.

All our firefighters are cross-trained as EMTs or paramedics, allowing us to provide comprehensive emergency medical services alongside our fire suppression capabilities.

Fire Safety Tips

Knowledge is your best defense against fire emergencies

1 Smoke Alarms

Install smoke alarms on every level of your home, inside bedrooms and outside sleeping areas. Test them monthly and replace batteries at least once a year.

2 Escape Plan

Create and practice a home fire escape plan with two ways out of every room and a meeting place outside. Practice at night too.

3 Kitchen Safety

Never leave cooking unattended. Keep flammable items away from the stove. Turn pot handles inward to prevent spills.

4 Electrical Safety

Don't overload outlets. Replace damaged cords. Use proper wattage for lamps. Keep space heaters away from flammables.

5 Stop, Drop, and Roll

If your clothes catch fire, stop immediately, drop to the ground, and roll over and over to put out the flames.

6 Fire Extinguishers

Keep an ABC-rated fire extinguisher in your kitchen and learn how to use it (PASS: Pull, Aim, Squeeze, Sweep).
